Artist Bio
From Lawyer to Artist
Since 2001, Kay Sandler has been immersed in the art world. Kay was educated at the University of Michigan and Cooley Law School and practiced law for 20 years. In 2000, Kay took a beginner’s watercolor class and everything changed.
Since then, Kay studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art for a year, in their crash course for non-artists, and has studied with nationally known artists, taking many workshops and classes over the years.
A Passion for Color!
The beauty of nature in general and flowers, in particular, are the inspirations behind most of Kay’s work. Now retired from law, Kay paints in watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and oils. Most of Kay’s work is representational with a strong emphasis on color and design.
Kay paints from her winter home studio in Boca Raton, Florida, and from her summer home studio in Columbia, Maryland.
An Award-Winning Artist
Kay’s paintings have been juried into many national and international shows over the past 20 years. Kay has won more than 50 awards, including the Best of Show Award at the Regional Baltimore Watercolor Exhibition in 2009.
